I am a costume artisan currently living in the Boston Area. As an experienced stitcher, wardrobe supervisor, first hand, and draper, I am energized and artistically fulfilled when I have to figure out how to do something that I haven’t done before or have to come at a problem from a new direction. I choose the word “artisan” to describe myself carefully. When I think of the difference between artists and artisans, I think the distinction is practicality. I get joy from making something that is functional as well as beautiful whether for theatre or an individual.
