Covid is making us all miss people near and dear to us. My neighbor received a paper hug from her niece and wanted to transform it into something that she could hug back. We decided on a plush polar fleece and I traced and embroidered the adorable five-year-old handwriting. We added a friendship bracelet to the pillow and are mailing a duplicate to the niece.
The bride started by sending me some images of the type of dress she wanted. I got her measurements and draped a mock-up. We then had a fitting of the mock-up and went fabric shopping together. We found a great cotton/silk twill for the body of the dress and a silk organza for the lining to push the skirt out a little. Finding lace for the sleeves was tricky. Finally, we found a wide trim that I’ll piece together for the sleeves and a coordinating lace for the neck
The bride knew exactly what she wanted and could not find it at a store, so hired me to make her vision a reality.
